Most Pipe
lines can be monitored throughout their length even in remote locations.

Pipelines can become problematic
over a period of time due to external corrosion form the elements, or from internal corrosion due to abrasion or caustic substances.
If a number of
sensors are placed thought its length any change can be picked up on and further investigations carried out, as in the next
picture.

As with isolated pipe work it
is hard to find the cause of temperature loss or heat gain.
But once a problem
has been identified it can save a company thousands in lost revenue.

The sooner a section of problematic
pipe work can be identified the quicker it can be dealt with, preventing the matter form escalating.
This section of
pipe had temperature monitors installed along its length and a sharp increase in temperature in this section of pipe reviled
on inspection, a partial blockage at this point.
